- The CLOUD is a group of services provided to be able to save documents and files via internet. The cloud symbol is used to represent the internet in flowcharts and diagrams.
- Using Cloud computing, you can have access to any file you have done online because they are saved on a remote storage and not locally.
- It can be very advantageous because, by having access to it online, you can open files from any computer and you don't need to download special programs to open it up. On the other hand, in Microsoft Office, you can only open documents locally.
- Anyone can easily access it from anywhere around the world and you can edit one document with a group of up to 15 people at the same, unlike Microsoft Office were you have to create several copies of one file to edit between a group of people.
- However, using Google Docs also has it disadvantages. For instance, if I don't have an internet connection available, there is no way I can use Google Doc, but if I am using Microsoft Office I don't need an internet connection to edit or access my files.
- Also, another reason to why it may not be very advantageous is because to be able to use Google Docs you need a Google account and if someone doesn't have one, they wont be able to access the file.
- In the next 6 months, I plan to use cloud storage when doing group projects it will very useful in helping me communicate with other members of my group and edit one same document at the same time. I may also use it when i want to transfer files from one computer to another, that way I can avoid loosing my flash and therefore my documents.
